PRINCE GEORGE – The game schedule for the Women’s International Fall Festival has been released with Canada Red, Canada White, Sweden and the Cariboo Major Midget Cougars set to take to the ice at the Prince George Coliseum in just a few weeks. The round robin tournament will be a highlight of the week-long Fall Festival that will act as a training and evaluation camp for Canada’s National Women’s Team (see game schedule below). The Fall Festival runs from September 1st to the 8th.

Canada Red vs. Canada White will kick the Fall Festival off on Sunday, September 2nd when they face off at 7 p.m., while Sweden will see its first action Monday afternoon at 4 p.m. as they tangle with Canada White. On Monday night, the Cariboo Cougars will take to the ice against Canada Red beginning at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the preliminary round and bronze medal game will be just $5.00 each with the Gold Medal Game just $7.00. Advance Passes will be available later this month through Studio 2880. Individual game tickets will be available at the Coliseum on game days (more ticket information to come).

“We’re delighted to have the Cariboo Cougars competing in this prestigious event,” says Dan Martin, chair of the local organizing committee. “It will be a good challenge for them and for the close to 50 young women that are competing for a spot on Canada’s National Women’s Team.”

There will be a number of special events held in conjunction with the Fall Festival including:
Hockey Canada will host a Coaches Seminar on Thursday August 31st at the Coliseum for interested minor hockey coaches. The seminar will include both an on-ice and off-ice session.

Hockey Canada will stage an Esso Fun Day on Saturday morning, September 1st at the Coliseum for females of any age that haven’t played before and may be interested in finding out more about playing hockey.

BC Hockey is also staging a special Female Hockey Jamboree on Sunday, September 2nd and Monday, September 3rd at the Elksentre. The jamboree is for females aged 6-15 that are registered in minor hockey. It’s expected there could be upwards of 120 young girls from around the province participating in this jamboree.
