Saint John, NB – When the 2007 Atlantic Marathon Game ended on Saturday, January 20th, it was known at that time that the organizers were very much on their way to reaching their goal of $30,000 for the event.  Now that all monies have been counted and collected, Hockey Canada’s Atlantic Regional Centre is very pleased to officially announce that they have reached their goal of $30,000.

“A lot of work and committed individuals made this happen.  The players, cooperate sponsors and the many volunteers who stepped up to assist this cause, should all be very proud of their efforts today as we make this announcement,” stated Trevor Murphy, Manager of Hockey Canada’s Atlantic Regional Centre.  “Because of everyone’s efforts, children around our great region will have the opportunity to play our great game and experience the dream of lacing up their first pair of skates.”

The profits from the event will be dispersed evenly throughout each of the four Atlantic Hockey Branches – Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador, Hockey Nova Scotia, Hockey Prince Edward Island and Hockey New Brunswick – and will assist underprivileged kids around the Atlantic Region in having the opportunity to play hockey and learn valuable life lessons on and off the ice.

“I am very proud of everyone involved who supported this 24 Hour Marathon Hockey Game,” said Brad Taylor, Event Manager and Development Coordinator at Hockey Canada’s Atlantic Regional Centre. “There has been a lot of wonderful work done by a lot of individuals to realize our financial goals and because of these tremendous individuals, smiles will be put on the faces of a lot of children.”

A special thanks is once again extended to all of the players, volunteers, and corporate sponsors who were involved with this event:
