RIGA, LATVIA – Hockey Canada has again teamed up with eBay Canada (www.ebay.ca) to offer game worn Team Canada jerseys of Canada’s 2006 Men’s World Hockey Championship team taking place in Riga, Latvia.

Hockey fans across Canada and the World have the opportunity to bid on these unique game worn jerseys that are up for auction now until Wednesday, May 24th at www.ebay.ca and www.hockeycanada.ca.

The items up for bid are Canada’s ‘black’ jerseys that were worn at the 2006 Men's World Hockey Championship in Riga, Lativa for one game: May 9th, 2006 in Canada's game vs. USA, a 2-1 win for Canada. Only three sets of jerseys were worn by each Team Canada player in the Championship – one set of red jerseys, one set of white jerseys and one set of black jerseys. It is the game worn set of black jerseys that is up for auction.

The auction began on Sunday, May 14th, and already has drawn the attention of hockey fans who have bid up Sidney Crosby’s jersey to over $5,000, and Brendan Shanahan and Patrice Bergeron’s jerseys to over $1,000 each. The auction ends Wednesday, May 24th.

These eBay items are all one of a kind and game worn by Team Canada’s players, and all items come with a letter of authenticity from Hockey Canada.

Net proceeds raised through this 2006 Men’s World Championship auction go to the Canadian Hockey Foundation. The Canadian Hockey Foundation provides a new source of secure, sustainable, long term funding to support the future development and delivery of Hockey Canada programs, projects and activities.
