The 2005 gold medal-winning edition of Team Canada represented one of the deepest squads the nation has ever sent to the World Juniors. As a result of the NHL lockout, stars like Jeff Carter and Dion Phaneuf spent their Christmas break representing their country in Grand Forks, North Dakota instead of suiting up with their pro clubs. So what’s happened with the members of that great 22-man roster over the past year? Here’s the scoop.

Cam Barker: The first-round pick of the Chicago Blackhawks is the only returning player on this year’s World Junior squad. In 23 games with Medicine Hat of the WHL, Barker has five goals and 12 assists.

Rejean Beauchemin: Beauchemin, who backed up goaltender Jeff Glass during the 2005 IIHF World Junior Championship, has split this season between the Philadelphia Phantoms (AHL) and the Trenton Titans (ECHL). In 33 games this season, Carter has 17 points.

Braydon Coburn: The 6-foot-5 Calgary native has split this season between the Atlanta Thrashers and the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. The Thrashers first-round draft pick has an assist in nine games with the big club and nine points in 21 games with the Wolves.
