Appeal By Released Player Denied By Appeal Committee

Calgary, AB - The Canadian Hockey Association announced on Friday that an appeal by Nancy Drolet, a women's hockey player that was released from Canada's Women's Olympic hockey team, was denied by an appeal committee.

The appeal process, as outlined in the agreement between the CHA and all Canada's National Women's Team players, went as follows:

A three member appeal committee was named:

  • Dan Smith, a nominee of Sport Canada;
  • Wayne Russell, a nominee of the CHA International Women's Hockey Policy Committee
  • Karen Purdy, a nominee of the Womens' High Performance Advisory Board.

The appeal committee held a hearing on Wednesday, January 30th in Calgary, AB.
- At the hearing, both parties made presentations.
- The appeal committee informed both parties on Friday, February 1st that it had unanimously voted to deny the appeal.
