CALGARY, ALBERTA - Forward Ryan Craig of the WHL's Brandon Wheat Kings has been added to Canada's National Junior Development Camp from August 1-10, 2001 in Calgary, AB, while forward Jason Spezza of the OHL's Windsor Spitfires has indicated that he will not be attending the camp, the Canadian Hockey Association and the Canadian Hockey League announced on Thursday.

Spezza, 18, is a two-time bronze medallist with Canada's National Junior Team. Spezza was the Ottawa Senators' 1st round selection, 2nd overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Traditionnally, the National Junior Team Policy Committee has allowed players with two years experience with the National Junior Team to forego the summer camp. Spezza has indicated that he has other commitments.

Craig, 19, is a 6'1, 200 lb forward with Brandon (WHL). The native of Abbotsford, BC scored 38 goals last year, his third season in the WHL.

Craig has no previous international hockey experience, although he was selected to Canada's National Under 18 Team in 1999, but was unable to play due to illness.

CHA Director of Scouting, Barry Trapp and three regional scouts will continue to monitor and evaluate the players at next week's evaluation camp in Calgary, as well as others through the first half of the season to determine the over 30 players that will be invited to the December camp.

Forty-four players will be attending the National Junior Team's Development Camp being held at the Father David Bauer Olympic Arena in Calgary, AB
