CALGARY, AB - Canada's Men's World Championship team will hold a three-day mini-camp at the Beatrice Ice Gardens on the York University Campus in Toronto, ON from April 20th through the 22nd, the Canadian Hockey Association announced Tuesday.

Meanwhile, defenceman Patrice Brisebois, who had accepted to play for Canada at the upcoming World Championship, was forced to withdraw after the Montreal Canadiens' medical staff examined him and found that his shoulder injury has not sufficiently healed.

Team Canada GM Cliff Fletcher and the coaching staff continue to monitor the NHL playoff situation and, over the next 7 to 10 days, Team Canada expects to add more NHL players to the World Championship roster.

The players on the camp roster, comprised of 11 NHL players and 7 National team members, will be gathering in Toronto on Thursday, April 20th for a three-day camp that will take place at the Beatrice Ice Gardens at York University.

The practice schedule is as follows:

Thursday, April 20 4 pm - 5:30 pm EDT Beatrice Ice Gardens, York University
Friday, April 21 10 am - 12:30 pm EDT Beatrice Ice Gardens, York University
Saturday, April 22 10 am - 11:30 am EDT Beatrice Ice Gardens, York University

Players, coaches and staff will be available for interviews following all three practices. All interview requests must be made on site through Brad Pascall, media coordinator for Team Canada or by contacting Brad Pascall at the Toronto Airport Hilton International in Toronto at 905-677-9900.

Team Canada departs for Russia on Saturday, April 22nd where they will continue training before the start of the Men's World Championship on April 29th. Canada's flight (AC 872) overseas departs Toronto at 5:35 pm EDT.

Canada opens the 2000 World Championship on Saturday, April 29th against Japan. The gold medal final will be held on May 14th. Canada finished 4th in 1999, 6th in 1998 and won gold in 1997.
