Canada's National Women's Team Set for Two-Game Series Against Team USA

TORONTO, ON - Canada's National Women's Team will face the USA in a two-game series on February 2nd and 4th as the coaching staff continues to evaluate players for the 2000 IIHF Women's World Hockey Championship in Mississauga, ON from April 3-9, 2000.

Thirty-one players have been at the Beatrice Ice Gardens in Toronto, Ontario since January 27th, and twenty-five players will play with for Canada for the two exhibition games against the USA. The January evaluation camp and tour represent the third and final evaluation step for the National Women's Team as it prepares to name it's final roster for the 2000 IIHF Women's World Hockey Championship. Over 40 women's players in Canada are still being considered for Canada's roster at the 2000 Women's World Championship.

On February 2nd, Canada and USA will meet in Buffalo, NY at the Nichols Arena. Directions to the Nichols Arena from Toronto are as follows: Take Queen Elizabeth Way and proceed to Queeston-Lewiston Bridge (turn off is about one mile past St. Catherines Skyway). After proceeding past customs, follow 190 South over Grand Island to Exit 11 (Route 198 East - Scajaquada Expressway). Follow Route 198 East a few miles to Delaware Avenue North Exit. Proceed on Delaware Avenue North about one mile to Amherst Street. Turn right on Amherst and proceed less than one mile and Nichols School is on the left. Enter in the first driveway and proceed to rear of the school. The rink is on the left. On February 4th, Canada and USA hook up again for the TSN Challenge at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON during the NHL All-Star Weekend. Game time is 7:30 pm (ET). Media accreditation for the TSN Challenge or the NHL All-Star Weekend will be required for media. Media accreditation forms must be received by the CHA prior to February 1st at 5 pm (ET). The 2000 IIHF Women's World Hockey Championship will be held in Mississauga, Ontario from April 3-9, 2000. Tickets are currently on sale at all TICKETMASTER outlets or by calling 416-872-5000. The 2000 IIHF Women's World Hockey Championship will serve as the qualifying event for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
