Betts and Lauzon Unable to Attend National Junior Team Selection Camp; Pettinger Added to Roster
CALGARY, ALBERTA - Blair Betts, of the Prince George Cougars (WHL), and Ryan Lauzon, of the Hull Olympiques (QMJHL) will not be attending the National Junior Team's Selection Camp December 12-17, 1999 due to knee injuries which will sideline them for at least the next two weeks, the Canadian Hockey Association announced.
Matt Pettinger, a native of Victoria, BC, has been added to the Selection Camp roster. Pettinger has played with the University of Denver Pioneers for the last two years. He had taken part in the team's Evaluation Camp this past August.
Betts, a native of Sherwood Park, AB, was one of three returning players from last year's silver medal winning National Junior Team.
Lauzon, a native of Halifax, NS, was to participate for the first time in the National Junior Team Program.
The National Junior Team's Selection Camp Roster now stands at 32 players, including 4 goaltenders, 10 defencemen and 18 forwards.
The National Junior Team's Selection Camp will run from December 12-17, 1999 at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex. The team will be holding daily practices as well as two exhibition games, on December 15th and 16th , against All-Star Teams made up of University players. All practices and the two exhibition games are open to the public free of charge.
