HAMAR, NORWAY -- Forward Éric Dazé, Montreal QC, is out for the remainder of the 1999 World Championship as a result of a knee injury he suffered in Canada's victory over Norway May 3rd and will be replaced by forward Shane Doan of the Phoenix Coyotes for the next round, Team Canada General Manager Bryan Murray announced on Sunday.

"It's tough to lose a forward of Dazé's stature at this time in the tournament. Éric is a big forward who can score and has experience in this tournament," said Bryan Murray, Team Canada General Manager. "But we're excited about Shane's addition as he's a big strong forward who is coming off a terrific playoff with Phoenix."

Shane Doan, of Halkirk, AB, is a 6'2", 217 lb right-winger who scored six goals and added sixteen assists in 1998-99, his fourth season with the Coyotes. In this year's playoffs, Doan was the Coyotes second top scorer, with two goals and two assists over seven games. Doan is a former 1st round draft pick, selected 7th overall by the Winnipeg Jets in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.

Team Canada faces the USA on Sunday, May 9th at 6 pm local time. The game will be broadcast live across Canada on TSN and RDS, beginning at noon, EST.
