Game Story

B.C. EDGES QUEBEC TO REMAIN UNDEFEATED AND TAKE HOST TEAM OUT OF MEDAL CONTENTION

British Columbia and Quebec were tied at one going into the third period, and the pace got progressively faster as the two teams sought to close the preliminary round of the 2017 National Women’s Under-18 Championship.

Jenna Buglioni (Port Moody, B.C./Greater Vancouver, BCFMAAA) opened the scoring just 38 seconds into the second frame, putting the puck in the top corner. Emilie Lavoie (Beloeil, Que./Remparts du Richelieu, QCMAA) tied it up at 5:00 with a redirect over Kendra Woodland’s (Kamloops, B.C./Thompson, OMAHA) shoulder.

At 6:33 in the third, B.C. turned on the offence once again, as Danika Pasqua (Langley, B.C./Pacific, JWHL) one-timed the pass from Mikayla Capelle (Dawson Creek, B.C./Okanagan Hockey Academy, CSSHL) and beat the Quebec goaltender, Geneviève Lamoureux (Quebec, Que./Capitale-Nationale, QCMAA). Emma Hall (Maple Ridge, B.C./Greater Vancouver, BCFMAAA) scored five minutes later on the back-hand to make it 3-1 B.C., but Quebec came back with two goals to tie it up. Fans were bracing for overtime when Alex Allan (Abbotsford, B.C./Pacific, JWHL) teamed up with Pasqua to press in the Quebec zone and take advantage of the empty net for the win.
