2005 World Under 17 Hockey Challenge Ticket Packages Go on Sale August 20, 2004, Lethbridge, Alberta

LETHBRIDGE, Alberta – Lethbridge Minor Hockey Association and the World Under 17 Hockey Challenge 2005 announce that ticket packages go on sale at the ENMAX box office on Friday, at 1:00 pm.

The Under 17 World Hockey Challenge is an integral part of Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence.  The Under 17 program give players an opportunity to experience high caliber hockey event, while also preparing players for the National Under 18 Team and the National Junior Team.

Canadian teams will represent Pacific, Western, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic regions.  Five international squads will be on hand (Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Slovakia and USA).  The format of the tournament is a round robin of five team pools, with the top two teams from each pool facing off in the semi-finals.

This is an important early step in Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence, allowing our young players to be exposed to high-calibre competition in an international tournament setting.  This tournament is a true jewel in Canadian hockey!!
