CALGARY, AB -- Canada’s Men’s National Team finished a four-game tour of Great Britain with a 5-3 loss to the Sheffield Steelers on Friday night.

Bob Maudie had two goals while Warren Norris had the other in the windup to a tour that began in Finland on Nov. 1 and saw Team Canada win the VAR Cup tournament in Norway against the host club, Slovakia and Switzerland.

Ed Courtenay scored twice for Sheffield, while Scott Allison, Ken Priestlay and Derek Laxdall scored singles for Sheffield, a club team in the British Super League.

“It was a disappointing finish to what had been a very good tour,” said Mike Johnston, Team Canada’s general manager and head coach. “Maudie had a great game and as one of the veterans on our club, seemed able to handle the mental challenge of 10 games in 13 nights.”

The loss left Canada with a 2-2 won-lost record during its four-game tour of Great Britain, following Team Canada victories over Basingstoke (3-1) on Tuesday and Peterborough (5-1), and a 5-3 loss to the Cardiff Devils on Thursday night.

On Wednesday, Adduono, with two goals, Ashley Buckberger, Todd Robinson and Justin Cardwell paced Canada to the 5-1 victory over Peterborough.

Team Canada flies home to Calgary on Saturday for a four-week training block at its home base, Father David Bauer Arena, before flying back to Europe in mid-December for the Baltic Cup tournament in Moscow.
