Sophie Shirley (Saskatoon, Sask./University of Wisconsin, WCHA) scored the game-winning goal early in the second period and added late insurance into an empty net to lead Gold to a 5-3 win over U SPORTS on Thursday as part of the BFL National Women’s Development Team Selection Camp. Alexa Vasko (St. Catharines, Ont./Mercyhurst University, CHA), Ryleigh Houston (Winnipeg, Man./University of Minnesota Duluth, WCHA) and Claire Dalton (Toronto, Ont./Yale University, ECAC) also struck for Gold, which held 3-0 and 4-1 leads before it fended off a second-half charge from the university side.
