2023 IIHF Women's World Championship Community Events


Try Hockey (Youth)

Date & Time: April 10 (1:30-2:30 p.m.)

Location: Tim Hortons Community Rink – CAA Centre (Brampton, Ont.)

Details: On Easter Monday, Hockey Canada will host four ‘Try’ events to engage new fans, new players and new Canadians. Registration is free for anyone under 16 years of age, with a maximum of 30 participants.

 


Try Hockey (Adult Women)

Date & Time: April 10 (5:30-6:30 p.m.)

Location: Tim Hortons Community Rink – CAA Centre (Brampton, Ont.)

Details: On Easter Monday, Hockey Canada will host four ‘Try’ events to engage new fans, new players and new Canadians. Registration is free for women 18 or older, with a maximum of 45 participants.

 


Try Ball Hockey

Date & Time: April 10 (3:30-4:30 p.m.) 

Location: Tim Hortons Community Rink – CAA Centre (Brampton, Ont.)

Details: On Easter Monday, Hockey Canada will host four ‘Try’ events to engage new fans, new players and new Canadians. Registration is free for anyone 16 years of age, with a maximum of 45 participants.

 

 


Try Goalie (Youth)

Date & Time: April 10 (9:30-10:30 a.m.)

Location: Tim Hortons Community Rink – CAA Centre (Brampton, Ont.)

Esso Fun Days

Date & Time: April 7 (4:00-4:50 p.m. / 5:00-5:50 p.m.)

Location: Tim Hortons Community Rink – CAA Centre (Brampton, Ont.)

DetailsAs part of the IIHF Women's World Championship, Esso and Hockey Canada have teamed up to host two Esso Fun Days. These on-ice skill sessions are targeted to U9 and U11 girls who are new to the game of hockey, and both sessions will be followed by a pizza party! Registration is free, with a maximum of 25 participants per session.

We Are Coaches – Coach 1

Date & Time: April 8 (1:30-5:00 p.m.)

Location: Tim Hortons Community Rink – CAA Centre (Brampton, Ont.)

Details: The We Are Coaches program includes free, women-only clinics facilitated by women master coach developers or certified skills coaches. Hockey Canada will be offering six clinics for OWHA coaches as part of its Women’s Worlds programming – Coach 1, Coach 2, Instructional Stream – Skating, Instructional Stream – Shooting & Scoring, Instructional Stream – Developing Defence, Instructional Stream – Small-Area Games. Each clinic will feature two hours in the classroom and one hour on the ice. Snacks and beverages will be provided. Clinics are free, with a maximum of 30 participants.

Officiating NEW - Level 1

Date & Time: April 8 (8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.)

Location: Tim Hortons Community Rink – CAA Centre (1:30-2:30pm)

Details: This clinic is for NEW officials who would like to begin officiating with the OWHA.

 


Community Free Skates

April 13 | 3:30-5:20 p.m.
April 15 | 2:00-3:50 p.m.

Location: Tim Hortons Community Rink – CAA Centre (Brampton, Ont.)

Details: The Tim Hortons Community Rink will be open to the public for community free skates on six days during the IIHF Women’s World Championship. The skates will include music, refreshments and energy surrounding the Women’s World Championship event! Skates and helmets (which are required for all participants) will be provided for those who do not have access to equipment. No registration is required; first come, first served until capacity reached.


We Are Coaches – Instructional Stream (Skating + Shooting & Scoring)

Date & Time: April 1 | 12:00-4:30pm

Location: Niagara, Ont.  |  Gale Centre

To participate in a Try Hockey Event please complete and submit the below prior to April 7th, 2023.

Note: As spots to Try Hockey Day are limited, registration is not guaranteed and will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
