As she closes the book on her Hockey Canada career after 26 years as a coach, general manager and scout, Mel Davidson leaves the women’s game as one of its most recognizable faces. Take a look back at memories from her long and decorated career with Hockey Canada, which included four gold medals at the Olympic Winter Games and five more at the IIHF Women’s World Championship.

Over 140 golfers took to the course Sept. 12 at the Lakeside Greens Golf Club in Chestermere, Alta.

With the support of 22 sponsors, 145 golfers enjoyed the sunshine and took to the course Sept. 12 at the Lakeside Greens Golf Club in Chestermere, Alta., for the 10th edition of the Team Canada Alumni Association Charity Golf Tournament. The event raised in excess of $36,000 for the Hockey Canada Foundation and its programs, with $10,000 going to Comrie’s Sports Bank in the first year of a three-year agreement.

For the 10th year, the Team Canada Alumni Association and KPMG partnered on a fantasy game for clients in Calgary.

Those that played got the full spread – the Hockey Canada dressing room, Hockey Canada jerseys with their names on the back and a pre-game ‘pump-up’ video – and a chance to face off against players the likes of Lanny McDonald, Brendan Morrison, Mason Raymond and Rebecca Johnston. All the money raised goes back to the Hockey Canada Foundation, which supports grassroots hockey across Canada.

The Hockey Canada Foundation's special Sips, Sticks &amp; Stilettos event, held Oct. 29 at NAIT, raised funds to support the National Women's Team family program and the Edmonton Girls Hockey Association.

Brilliant performances under historic pressure, as well as long-lasting excellence, were recognized this month as the IIHF Hall of Fame inducted Canadian legends Danielle Goyette and Paul Henderson, alongside fellow international hockey stars Peter Forsberg, Teppo Numminen, Mats Sundin and builder Jan-Åke Edvinsson. In addition to two players, Canada is also represented this year by broadcaster Gord Miller, who was awarded the Paul Loicq Award for outstanding contribution to international hockey. The Soviet national team of 1954 won the Milestone Trophy. The 17th class of the IIHF Hall of Fame was ceremonially inducted Sunday, May 19, gold medal game day at the 77th IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Stockholm, Sweden.
