TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – SELKIRK STEELERS
This year in the MJHL there was Selkirk, and then there was everybody else. One season after finishing last in the Addison Division, the Steelers rolled to the league’s best record, 16 points up on the Steinbach Pistons. Selkirk was dominant, leading the league in goals for (243), goals against (122), power play (25.3%) and penalty kill (90.9%), and running off a remarkable 20-game winning streak from Dec. 8 to Feb. 1. In total, the Steelers went 26 in a row without a regulation loss. Selkirk’s league-leading offence was led by the league-leading scorer; Parker Thomas ran away from the field, finishing with a 26-point lead over second-place Tyler Grove of OCN. On defence, no team was within 24 goals of Selkirk’s goals-against total; goaltenders Nathan Park and Braeden Ostepchuk finished one-two in goals-against average (1.56, 2.00) and save percentage (.940, .932), and tied for the MJHL lead in shutouts (six), while Ostepchuk’s 37 wins led the league.
