Hockey Canada Announces Player Numbers for 2010 Men's Olympic Hockey Team

CALGARY, Alta. – Hockey Canada announced on Friday the sweater numbers that Men’s Olympic Hockey Team members will be wearing in competition at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, B.C..

Eighteen of the 23 players will be wearing the number they wear with their NHL teams. Five players have been assigned numbers that they have either played with for Canada previously or that they requested. The five players who will wear different numbers for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games are: Ryan Getzlaf (#51), Patrick Marleau (#11), Corey Perry (#24), Eric Staal (#21) and Jonathan Toews (#16)

Hockey Canada announced the 23 players being nominated to the Canadian Olympic Committee on . The Canadian Olympic Committee will be unveiling the complete Canadian Olympic Team in late January 2010.

Players named to Canada National Women’s Team and Canada’s National Sledge Team will be wearing the same sweater numbers as they have been wearing all season.

Canada’s Olympic hockey sweater is available for purchase at numerous retail outlets across Canada.
