The Don Mills Flyers Major Midget AAA Hockey Team is having a very successful season. We won the Promittere Cup as regular season champions of the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL), finishing 16 points ahead of the second place team, with 56 points in 33 games. The Flyers then earned a berth in the Ontario Regional Midget AAA Championships by winning the GTHL Playoffs in a thrilling final series. We went undefeated in the Ontario Regional Championships, earning a spot in the prestigious Midget AAA National Championships.

With our main focus on the GTHL regular season and playoffs, our team entered only one tournament this year, finishing as quarterfinalists at the Sudbury Ontario Big Nickel Tournament.

Other than being victorious in the GTHL and Ontario Regional Championships, one of the main highlights of the year was the Jennifer Ashleigh Foundation charity game against the NHL Old-timers. Although we lost 7-6 in the final few seconds, everyone had a great time playing for a very worthy cause. It was also thrilling for us to sign autographs before and after the game for all the young hockey players in attendance.

Special thanks to the Don Mills Flyers Organization, our coaching staff and management team, as well as our parents and affiliated players for all the time they have put into this team, and for their continued effort and support.

James Murdoch
Captain, Don Mills Flyers
