Canada's National Junior Team Trims Roster to 28 Players
KITCHENER (ONTARIO) - Canada's National Junior Team trimmed its roster to 28 players on Monday morning by releasing two players and returning them to their respective Canadian Hockey League teams.
Players released were:
• Adam Henrich (Brampton, OHL)
• Jeremy Swanson (Barrie, OHL)
Canada’s National Junior Team Selection Camp roster now stands at 28 players (4 goaltenders, 9 defencemen and 15 forwards). The six-day selection camp serves to choose the team that will represent Canada at the 2004 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Helsinki and Hameenlinna, Finland from - . The team will take 22 players - 20 skaters and two goaltenders - to the World Junior Championship.
Team Canada’s Head Coach Mario Durocher (Lewiston MAINEiacs, QMJHL), with assistant coaches Dean Chynoweth
(Seattle Thunderbirds, WHL) and Jim Hulton (Kingston Frontenacs, OHL), along with Blair Mackasey, Hockey
Canada’s Head Scout, have been evaluating the players through daily work-outs and intra-squad games.
Canada's National Junior Team returns to the ice on Monday morning with a 10:15 am (Eastern) practice at the
Kitchener Memorial Auditorium (The Aud).
Canada will play a second exhibition game before naming it’s final roster on Tuesday, December 16th Canada will be facing the OUA All-Star Team again (Canada defeated the OUA 2-0 on Sunday) at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium on Monday, December 15th.
