CALGARY, AB – Canada’s National women’s hockey team has made a change in their travel plans to the 2003
IIHF Women’s World Hockey Championship being held in Beijing, China.
The team was scheduled to leave on Thursday, March 27, but will remain in Calgary, AB where they will
continue to train and prepare for the 2003 Women’s World Championship. The team will now depart on Monday,
March 31, arriving into Beijing on April 1st, two days prior to the start of the Championship which runs
April 3-9.
"We are currently gathering information on the various issues surrounding reports of health and safety
concerns and how that may impact our athletes, team staff and officials," said CHA President, Bob Nicholson.
"Our full intention is to participate in the 2003 Women’s World Championship. Our team will continue to
prepare and train in Calgary while we communicate with the IIHF, the Canadian government and other agencies
and organizations around the world."
Canada’s practice schedule at the Father David Bauer Arena in Calgary, AB from March 27-30th will be
posted at www.canadianhockey.ca, as ice-scheduling is currently being organized.
