Arnprior, ON - The 2002 Esso Women's National Hockey Championship will wrap up Sunday night when Team Quebec will face off against Team Ontario (Beatrice Aeros) for the gold medal.

Team Quebec defeated the host Team Ontario (Brampton Thunder) 3-0 in Saturday's first semi-final match-up to advance to the gold medal final. Quebec's defense continues to be the story of the Esso National Championship as they have yet to surrender a goal so far in this year's championship.

Quebec goaltender, and National team player, Kim St-Pierre recorded her third shutout of the championship, stopping all 17 Ontario (Thunder) shots she faced. Scoring for Quebec were Sophie Acheson, Lisa Marie Breton and Caroline Ouellette. St-Pierre was named Quebec's player-of-the-game while her goaltending counterpart Marie-France Morin took the honours for Host Team Ontario.

In the other semi-final game on Saturday, Team Ontario (Beatrice Aeros) downed Team Alberta 9-1 to earn a berth in Sunday's final. Geraldine Heaney's two goals and Gillian Apps' one goal and one assist paced Team Ontario to the win. Kendra Fisher recorded the win for Team Ontario, stopping 14 of 15 shots she faced. Apps was named player-of-the-game for Ontario while Delaney Collins was named Alberta's player-of-the-game.
