WINNIPEG, Man. – Jenna Thompson (Winnipeg, Man.) scored twice, while Saige Patrick (Winnipeg, Man.), Jordan Zacharias (Winnipeg, Man.) and Kelly Matarazzo (Winnipeg, Man.) each had a goal and two assists as St. Mary’s Academy skated to a 7-1 win over Rothesay Netherwood School in the fifth place game at the 2013 Female World Sport School Challenge on Saturday morning.

Randi Marcon (Winnipeg, Man.) and Danielle Krzyszczyk (Winnipeg, Man.) also tallied for St. Mary’s, which grabbed its second win of the tournament with the victory.

Patrick gave St. Mary’s a 1-0 lead as she opened the scoring midway through the first period, while Matarazzo extended the lead to 2-0 with 1:11 left in the frame, sending St. Mary’s to the dressing room with a two-goal lead after 20 minutes.

Thompson made it 3-0 for St. Mary’s with a power-play marker just over five minutes into the middle stanza and then Zacharias made it a four-goal lead as she found the back of the net late in the frame.

St. Mary’s continued its domination in the third period as Marcon, Krzyszczyk and Thompson, with her second of the game, all tallied to make it 7-0. Brittany Carroll (Labrador City, N.L.) broke the shutout bid with 6:24 remaining to put Rothesay Netherwood on the board.

St. Mary’s outshot Rothesay Netherwood by a margin of 52-13 in the game, as Rothesay goaltender Marlene Boissonnault (Dundee, N.B.) made 45 saves in the loss.

St. Mary’s finished the tournament with a 2-2 record and in fifth place, while Rothesay Netherwood finishes 1-3 and in sixth place out of eight teams.
