Game Story

MANITOBA CLOSES U18 NATIONALS WITH WIN OVER ATLANTIC

Manitoba recorded its first win of the tournament during its final outing in the seventh-place game against the Atlantic team.

Atlantic was on the board first, with Taylor Gillis (Summerside, P.E.I./Western, PEIMAAA) scoring an unassisted goal on Logan Angers (Winnipeg/St. Mary’s Academy, CSSHL).

Keyara Lea (Winnipeg/Boston, JWHL) tied it up on a breakaway at 17:20 off a pass from Olivia Cvar (Gimli, Man./Balmoral Hall JWHL) and the teams went into the first intermission with one goal apiece.

Following a scoreless second period, Cvar teamed with the Lea duo, Keyara and Keyanna, to score the go-ahead and eventual game-winner at 7:49 and secure Manitoba’s seventh-place finish in the final standings.

Team Atlantic goaltender Maddie Beck turned away 24 of 26 shots in the game, and Angers made 20 saves to earn the win.
