BRITISH COLUMBIA SHUTS OUT MANITOBA TO EARN ANOTHER VICTORY AT U18s

Team B.C. blanked its opponent for the second time in as many games, shutting out Manitoba in preliminary-round action on Thursday.

Rylind MacKinnon (Cranbrook, B.C./Northern Alberta, CSSHL) opened the scoring at 6:10 of the first period, beating Manitoba netminder Logan Angers (Winnipeg/St. Mary’s Academy, CSSHL) with a screened shot from the point during a two-man advantage. Katie Chan (Richmond, B.C./Fraser Valley, BFMAAA) earned an assist on the goal, and went on to add a goal of her own in the second period. Reece Hunt (Nelson, B.C./Okanagan Hockey Academy, CSSHL) knocked in a rebound at 14:35 of the third period to round out the scoring.

Angers logged 30 saves in the game for Manitoba, while Kate Stuart (Chilliwack, B.C./Leaside, PWHL) turned away 13 shots for the shutout.
