Game Story

ONTARIO BLUE BLANKS ALBERTA AT U18s

Erica Fryer (Amherstburg, Ont./London, PWHL) turned away 26 shots on her way to earning the shutout in Ontario Blue’s 4-0 win over Alberta at the 2017 National Women’s Under-18 Championship.

Sarah Nelles (St. Anns, Ont./Stoney Creek, PWHL) opened the scoring for Ontario Blue at 9:16 of the first period. Just three minutes later, teammate Lauren Ianni (Richmond Hill, Ont./Toronto, PWHL) found the back of the net by deflecting a shot from the point from Megan Carter (Milton, Ont./Stoney Creek, PWHL), and Ontario Blue headed into the first intermission up 3-0 on a goal by Julia Gosling (London, Ont./London, PWHL) in the dying seconds of the first frame.

After a scoreless second period, Alexa Hoskin (Belleville, Ont./Kingston, PWHL) tucked one in glove-side on Alberta netminder Camryn Drever (Edmonton/St. Albert, AFHL) to make it 4-0. Drever stopped 24 of 28 shots in the game for Team Alberta.
