Edge School - Gold 8 - Banff Hockey Academy 2

CALGARY, Alta. – Hayden Ursulak scored twice and added one assist, Luke Milnthorp and Austin Holmes both added one goal and one assist as Edge School-Gold opened up the World School Sport Challenge with a lopsided 8-2 win over the Banff Hockey Academy in Varsity Division play on Friday.

Edge School-Gold came out of the gates firing on all cylinders, scoring three goals on their first five shots, opening up a 3-0 lead just 3:52 into the game on goals from Luke Milnthorp, Austin Holmes and Colton Buckler.

Kade Jensen would add to the Edge School-Gold lead just over four minutes into the second period with an accurate wrist shot from the point on the power-play to make it 4-0. Wesley Howery added another goal late in the second period to send Edge School-Gold to the dressing room with a 5-0 lead after 40 minutes.

Banff looked like they were about to mount a comeback in the third period, cutting the lead to 5-2 on goals from Tomas Sak and Devon Cardinal-Jackson, however Edge School-Gold would come right back as Ursulak scored twice in 14 seconds and Chase Althen added another to restore a commanding lead and seal the 8-2 victory, outshooting Banff 44-16 on the night as Banff goaltender Michael Lenko made 36 saves in net.

Edge School-Gold will look to improve to 2-0 against Rothesay Netherwood School on Saturday in the first game of the day at the WSSC, while later in day; the Banff Hockey Academy will face the Swiss International Sports & Education Center in a battle of teams looking for their first victory at the WSSC.
