Game Story

BONNYVILLE, Alta. – Matej Blumel, Roman Pucek and Otakar Sik scored in a span of 1:54 late in the second period, sending the Czech Republic to a 5-1 win over the Bonnyville Pontiacs in pre-tournament action Friday ahead of the 2018 World Junior A Challenge.

Lukas Rousek and Jan Kern added insurance in the third period, and finished with a goal and an assist apiece. Daniel Dvorak and Tomas Vomacka shared time in the Czech goal, combining to turn away 26 of the 27 shots they faced.

Bonnyville captain Grayson Constable had the lone goal for the AJHL side, opening the scoring midway through the first period. Tournament play begins Sunday, with the Czechs getting their schedule started Monday against Russia (2 p.m. MT).
