YOUNG NATIONALS COME BACK TO EARN TIE WITH HURRICANES

SUDBURY, Ont. – Markus Paterson, Cole Burtch and Noah Beck scored goals in the third period to help the Toronto Young Nationals come from behind and earn a 3-3 tie with the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Wednesday at the 2018 TELUS Cup.
Ridly Greig did the work on the opening goal, speeding into the Toronto zone and splitting the defence before finding Zack Stringer, who beat goaltender Sean Wu for the 1-0 marker at 7:38.
Michael Horon made it 2-0 on a Lethbridge power play less than six minutes into the second period, getting his stick on a Tayler Miller point shot to double the lead.
The third period was an action-packed one, featuring four goals and 36 minutes in penalties.
Paterson got the Nationals on the board, converting the rebound of a shot from Beck to shorten the Hurricanes’ lead at 7:43, but Greig and Stringer would come together again when Stringer tipped in a Greig shot on the power play to make it 3-1 with 8:28 left.
The Nationals closed the gap again when Michael Palandra found Burtch for another man-advantage goal; he beat Lethbridge goaltender Carl Tetachuk to the top left corner at 15:44, bringing Toronto within one.
Beck completed the comeback with 59 seconds left on yet another power play, walking in a pass from Yianni Tsiampas and snapping a shot past Tetachuk to earn the Young Nationals their first point of the week.
Toronto gets back to action Thursday against the Moncton Flyers (3:30 p.m. ET), right after Lethbridge takes on the Notre Dame Hounds (12 p.m. ET).
