2004 National U18 Club Championship

QUEBEC 2 - HOST 1

Semi-Final
April 24, 2004
Kenora, ON

In the first semi-final of the day, the host team – Kenora Stars were taking on College Charles-Lemoyne from Quebec. In a rematch of the 8-1 Quebec win the night before, Kenora was looking to make this one a more competitive game. Quebec got on the board first with a goal at 8:08 by Francis Pare, the tournaments leading scorer and MVP. But Kenora replied with five minutes remaining in the first period on a power-play goal by Tanner Kaemingh to tie things up at 1-1. The second period was fairly even in play, but Quebec regained their one goal lead at 10:43 on a goal by Yannick Riendeau. Quebec took a slim 2-1 lead into the third, but that was all that was needed. Quebec took a five minute major with just over three minutes remaining – but Kenora could not beat the Quebec netminder. With the 2-1 win, Quebec advances to the Gold medal final on Sunday at 4:30pm (EST) to face the Brandon Wheat Kings. Quebec is still undeafeated with a perfect 6-0 record. Kenora will face Red Deer in the Bronze medal game Sunday at 11:00am (EST).
