ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP
The Bill Hay Future Leaders Internship Program is made possible through generous contributions from Bill Hay and the Hockey Canada Foundation. The program has been funded for four years, through the 2018-19 season.
The internships are based out of the three Canadian Hockey League offices (WHL – Calgary, Alta.; QMJHL - Boucherville, Que.; OHL – Toronto, Ont.) and Hockey Canada’s national offices (Calgary, Alta., and Ottawa, Ont.), and are awarded annually to outstanding college or university graduates who are pursuing a career in sports administration, sport marketing, sport communication or program development.
Bill Hay Future Leader Internship terms can be either four months or eight months in duration. Each organization will have some flexibility in the start and end date of the placements.
Participants will be required to present a written summary of their internship experiences in preparation for the annual general meetings of each of the respective organizations, once the internship is completed.
Based in the CHL offices across Canada and Hockey Canada’s main offices in Ottawa and Calgary, these positions may call for placements within sports administration, communications, and marketing or program development initiatives. These placements will be reflected in the needs of each of the four organizations.
A committee that includes representatives of the WHL, OHL, QMJHL and Hockey Canada will work collaboratively to select suitable candidates for the internship positions.
