  • Head coach of Team Canada at the 1994 IIHF World Championship (gold medal)
  • General manager of Team Canada at the 1994 Olympic Winter Games (silver medal)
  • Head coach of the NHL’s San Jose Sharks from 1991-93
  • Head coach of Norway’s national men’s team and national junior team from 1989-91

  • He and his wife, Wendy, have one son, Kevin, and one daughter, Erin
  • Received a bachelor’s degree in education and physical education from the University of Alberta
  • Received a master’s degree in arts from the University of Alberta
  • Received a PhD in philosophy from the University of Alberta

HONOURS

  • Received the Hockey Alberta Centennial Award in 2007
  • Received the Gordon Juckes Award (contribution to development of amateur hockey) in 2007
  • Named CIAU Coach of the Year in 1973-74 and 1980-81
