2004-05 National Men's Under-18 Team

Under-18 Junior World Cup
Round Robin
August 10, 2004
Piestany, SVK

Team Canada got off to a good start in this year’s Junior World Cup with a 7-1 victory over the Swiss. Canada’s goals were scored by Andrew Cogliano (2), Gilbert Brule (2), Ryan O Marra, Cal Clutterbuck and Brendan Mikkelson.  Team Canada held period leads of 3-0 and 6-0 before the Swiss broke Carey Price’s shutout bid with 2:01 remaining in the game.

Canada outshot the Swiss 50-20 and applied pressure throughout the game.  Head coach Dave Cameron was pleased with the team’s effort.  "This is the first time that this group has played together and I thought we showed some good intensity and a strong work ethic. We will continue to work together and get better day by day."

Team Canada will play again tomorrow afternoon against Sweden.  Andrew Cogliano was named Team Canada’s Player of the Game.
