GOYANG, South Korea - Canada’s National Sledge Team earned top spot in Group B at the IPC Sledge Hockey World Championship after shutting out the host Koreans 5-0 on Tuesday.
Canada finished the preliminary round at 3-0 and will meet the Czech Republic in a semifinal on Thursday (5:30 a.m. ET/2:30 a.m. PT) at the SPART Complex.
Brad Bowden (Orton, Ont.) continued his strong tournament with a pair of power-play goals as the Canadians connected four times on the man advantage.
Bowden leads the tournament with nine points (five goals, four assists) in three games.
Marc Dorion (Bourget, Ont.) and Adam Dixon (Midland, Ont.) scored goals in the first period and Anthony Gale (Brampton, Ont.) rounded out the scoring in the third for the Canadians, who also got two assists from Billy Bridges (Summerside, P.E.I.).
Corbin Watson (Kingsville, Ont.) made 10 saves for his second shutout in as many starts. Canada outshot Korea 25-10.
