CANADA FINISHES IN 3RD PLACE
AT NAGANO CUP

Nagano, Japan -  The Mid-West Islanders, the team that represented Canada at the Nagano Cup, lost to Russia 9-2 and finished with a 0-2 record finishing in third place. The host team, Japan, defeated Russia 5-4 on Sunday to win the Nagano Cup. The Nagano Cup is played to commemorate the 1998 Nagano Olympics, where players from the National Hockey League took part in the Olympics for the first time.

The Canadian team was made up mostly of members of the non-professional Mid-West Islanders from Saskatchewan.» summary

Japanese hospitality was not on display Friday as the hosts cruised to an 8-2 victory over Canada in the first game of the Nagano Cup.

NATIONAL MEN'S TEAM RETURNS TO THE ICE IN FEBRUARY

Canada’s National Men’s team will continue its 2004-2005 season, with games in Germany and Hungary in February.

Head Coach Marc Habscheid, along with Manager Scott Salmond and VP, Hockey Johnny Misley from Hockey Canada, will be assembling Canada’s roster for these February games.

On February 9th, Canada will take on Germany in Krefeld, Germany, and will then travel to Budapest, Hungary for a tournament with the host team, Hungary, along with Germany and Slovakia.

Canada’s roster for these games will not be announced until the end of January. Check back at www.hockeycanada.ca
