QUEBEC, Que. – The top players in women’s hockey are set to go head-to-head in Quebec City when Canada’s National Women’s Team takes on the U.S. Women’s National Team in advance of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

Canada’s 28-player Olympic centralization roster will open a cross-border exhibition series against its southern rivals in Quebec City at the Videotron Centre on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT. Tickets are available for purchase at HockeyCanada.ca and at the box office for $25 for adults, and $20 for children aged 16-and-under.

“The City of Quebec is proud to be associated with an event that provides fans with another opportunity to demonstrate their support for our national pastime,” said Steeve Verret, member of Quebec City’s Executive Committee responsible for Sports and Recreation. Holding this game will enable us to demonstrate once again that Quebec is the perfect sport city, a prime choice for hosting large-scale events.”

“When the organizing committee approached us to host this event, we were very excited at the idea of offering Quebec City residents the opportunity to attend such an event,” said Videotron Centre and Remparts de Québec general manager, Louis Painchaud. “We were happy to offer the support of the Remparts’ staff to the organizing committee in order to help with the logistics and organization of the game. This will be the first time that a high-caliber female hockey game will be played in Quebec and we have decided to offer our season ticket holders the privilege of attending the event by including a ticket for the game with their subscription.”

“This event is a first for Quebec, and is possible thanks to our first-class partners,” said Camille Bernier, chair of the game’s host organizing committee. Bernier also chairs the host organizing committee for the 2017 National Women’s Under-18 Championship, which comes to Quebec City Nov. 1-5, on the heels of the Canada-U.S. game. “Hockey Canada, the Remparts de Québec, the Videotron Centre, and the City of Quebec showed immediate interest when we first proposed the opportunity for Quebec to host a game. We are confident that the Quebec region fans will be as enthusiastic in their support of the game with their presence at the Videotron Centre on Oct. 22.”

The game is part of a larger exhibition series that will see games hosted across the United States and in at least two other Canadian locations; further details on those games is expected to be released later this summer. The series also serves as an important evaluation tool in selecting Canada’s final roster for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

“This series is an incredible opportunity to showcase women’s hockey in a best-on-best atmosphere and we’re looking forward to bringing that to Quebec City,” said Melody Davidson, Hockey Canada’s general manager of national women’s team programs. “As we continue to look ahead to the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, this series marks another critical step in our preparation and will certainly be a fantastic opportunity for fans to watch the top players in North America battle in advance of puck-drop in Pyeongchang.”
