Canada's National Men's Team in Action November 9-14 at The Swiss Challenge and 2010 Deutschland Cup
CALGARY, Alta. - Canada’s National Men’s Team will be in action this week in Europe, facing Switzerland on Tuesday, November 9 in Kloten, Switzerland in the Swiss Challenge, and taking part in the 2010 Deutschland Cup from November 12-14 in Munich, Germany.
Canada last participated in the Deutschland Cup in 2008, winning gold. The National Men’s Team has taken part in the tournament on 14 occasions (1992-2006, 2008), winning gold four times (2000, 2002, 2005, 2008).
Mark Messier (Edmonton, Alta./New York Rangers, NHL) will be head coach of both rosters, with Rich Chernomaz (Port Alberni, B.C./Frankfurt, GER) and Jay Wells (Paris, Ont.) as assistant coaches for the Deutschland Cup.
Doug Shedden (Wallaceburg, Ont./Zug, SUI) will join Messier behind the bench as an assistant coach for the Swiss Challenge.
All of the players taking part in the Swiss Challenge and the 2010 Deutschland Cup are Canadians playing professional hockey in European leagues.

Canada’s National Men’s Team will take part in three events during the 2010-11 season: the Swiss Challenge, 2010 Deutschland Cup and 2010 Spengler Cup. Canada’s roster for the 2010 Spengler Cup, which takes place December 26-31 in Davos, Switzerland, will be announced in mid-December.
