Canada's National Women's Team Wins Gold Medal at 2009 4 Nations Cup
TIKKURILA, Finland – Canada’s National Women’s Team has won the gold medal at the 2009 4 Nations Cup in Finland, thanks to a 5-1 victory over the United States.
Carla MacLeod (Calgary, Alta.), Meghan Agosta (Ruthven, Ont.), Tessa Bonhomme (Sudbury, Ont.), Cherie Piper (Scarborough, Ont.) and Jayna Hefford (Kingston, Ont.) scored for Canada. Goaltender Shannon Szabados earned the win in goal.
It was the second meeting between the two teams during the 4 Nations Cup. On Friday, Canada dropped a 3-2 decision to the United States.
In the bronze medal game, Sweden defeated Finland 2-1 in a shootout.Canada’s staff and players will return to Canada on Sunday, November 8th. See below for flight arrival information (note – final destinations are listed and all times are local)
