CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI – Canada’s National Sledge Team will face Norway in Saturday’s gold medal final at the 2008 World Sledge Hockey Challenge, a game that can be seen live via webcast at www.hockeycanada.ca.

The final will be a rematch of Wednesday’s game between the two teams, which Canada won 2-0. Canada finished the round-robin at 3-0 after defeating Japan 7-1 on Thursday night at the CARI Complex. Greg Westlake (Oakville, ON) had two goals and two assists to lead the way for Canada.

Norway earned its spot into the gold medal game by defeating the United States 3-2 on Thursday. Norway led 3-0 after two periods before the United States came on strong in the third.

Canada and Norway are strong rivals in sledge hockey, having met in the final of the last three major sledge events. Canada defeated Norway at the 2008 IPC Sledge Hockey World Championship, 2007 World Sledge Hockey Challenge and 2006 Paralympic Winter Games.

Media enquiries throughout the event should be directed to Chris Jurewicz, Hockey Canada’s coordinator of media relations. He will be on site for the event and can be reached at (403) 880-5819 or cjurewicz@hockeycanada.ca.
