Canada's National Women's to Depart for Beijing (China) and 2003 World Championship on March 27, 2003

CALGARY, ALBERTA - Canada's National Women's Team will be departing Calgary, AB on March 27th 2003 en route to Beijing, China, where Canada will be vying for an eighth consecutive gold medal at the IIHF Women's World Hockey Championship, the Canadian Hockey Association announced on Wednesday.

Twenty of the twenty-one players named to the 2003 National Women's Team World Championship roster as well as the coaching and support staffs will be traveling on March 27th.

7:15 am Check-in at Calgary Airport

9 am Air Canada Flight AC 205 from Calgary, AB to Vancouver, BC

10:00 am Media availability of selected players and Head Coach Karen Hughes

International Terminal 2nd Floor, Departure area (adjacent to the Food Court)

12:37 pm Air Canada Flight AC 29 from Vancouver, BC to Beijing, China

Canada will play an exhibition game on vs. Russia and will open the 2003 IIHF World Hockey Championship on against Switzerland.

TSN and WTSN are teaming up for the 2003 IIHF Women's World Hockey Championship. TSN and WTSN have coverage of the semifinals and final of the 2003 Women's World Hockey Championship in Beijing from April 7 to April 12. WTSN's coverage begins on Monday, April 7 with live coverage of semifinal #1 at 5:30 a.m. ET (encore presentations on Monday, April 7 at 10 p.m. ET and Tuesday, April 8 at 1 p.m. ET) and semifinal #2 at 8:30 a.m. ET (encore presentations on Tuesday, April 8 at 12:30 a.m. ET and 3:30 p.m. ET).
