KIRCHER POWERS GERMANY PAST OKANAGAN IN QUARTER-FINALS

CALGARY, Alta. – Tobias Kircher scored two goals and added one assist as Germany advanced to the World Sport School Challenge Prep Division semi-finals after defeating the Okanagan Hockey Academy by a score of 7-3 in the quarter-finals on Monday.

Germany jumped out to a 2-0 lead on back-to-back goals from Kircher, but Okanagan responded just three minutes after Kircher’s second tally with a goal of their own off the stick of Matthew Campese. Germany added two more goals before the period was out, as Jonas Lautenbacher and Jakob Weber made it 4-1 after 20 minutes.

Maurice Keil made it 5-1 Germany in the second period, but shortly after Okanagan’s Alex Brewer one-timed home a shot from the point making it 5-2 after two periods.

Ole Max Olleff, who also added an assist in the game, made it 6-2 at the midway point of the third period and then the teams traded goals late in the frame as Kendal Biro scored for Okanagan and Manuel Todam responded with a power-play marker for Germany, making it 7-3.

Germany will face-off against Czech Republic in an all-European semi-finals contest on Tuesday, the Czechs defeated Germany 4-1 in the preliminary round on Day 2. Earlier on Tuesday, Okanagan will face the Banff Hockey Academy, in the fifth place game; Okanagan bested Banff 10-2 on Day 2.
