MCNEIL SCORES GAME-WINNER AS EDGE DEFEATS OKANAGAN

CALGARY, Alta. –  Logan Franz and Zach Fowles each scored two goals and added an assist, Matt McNair picked up four assists and Jeremy McNeil scored the game-winner as Edge School doubled-up the Okanagan Hockey Academy 8-4 in a Prep Division showdown at the World Sport School Challenge on Sunday.

Okanagan came out of the gates fast and furious as Kienan Scott netted two goals to give them a 2-0 lead only 2:46 into the opening period. Franz responded for Edge, scoring two goals of his own to send the teams to the dressing room deadlocked at 2-2 after one period.

After Edge’s Will Nicholas and Okanagan’s Matthew Campese traded goals early in the middle stanza, Edge took over with three goals from Sam Stormoen, McNeil and Fowles, giving them a 6-3 lead after 40 minutes.

Fowles and Stormoen grabbed their second goals of the game in the third period as Edge added to their lead and Jack Strommen responded for Okanagan, making it an 8-4 final.

Edge School, which finishes the preliminary round in third spot, will face the Banff Hockey Academy in the first Prep Division quarter-final game on Monday. With the loss, Okanagan finishes in fourth spot and will face-off against Germany in the other Prep Division quarter-final game on Day 4.
