RODRIGUEZ, NORMAN AND GODBOUT LEAD SHATTUCK IN AN 11-2 ROUT OVER BANFF AT THE WSSC

CALGARY, Alta. – Alex Rodriguez scored twice and added three assists, Ryan Norman tallied two goals and two assists and Marcel Godbout netted a hat-trick as defending champions, Shattuck-St. Mary’s cruised to a 11-2 win over the Banff Hockey Academy in the Prep Division finale on Friday at the World Sport School Challenge.

Shattuck took the lead just 1:07 into the opening period and never looked back. Norman, Rodriguez, Max Becker and Anthony Petralla paced the Shattuck offense in the first period, while Yannis Soukas added one goal for Banff, who trailed Shattuck 4-1 after 20 minutes.

It was all Shattuck in the second period, scoring five times with Rodriguez adding his second of the game, Broydon Stufko and Willie Raskob added singles, while Godbout scored his first two goals of the game, giving Shattuck a commanding 9-1 lead after two periods.

The offense would slow down in the final period as Shattuck was limited to only two goals as Godbout completed his hat-trick goal and Norman added his second of the game. Riley Cieslak added a late goal for Banff, who was outshot 48-13 on the night. Tyler Vesel registered three assists for Shattuck, while Anthony Petrella and Chase Phelps both chipped in with two helpers apiece.

Shattuck will meet a fellow undefeated team, Edge School on Saturday in the night-cap of Day 2 at the WSSC, while earlier in the day Banff will square-off with the Okanagan Hockey Academy in a battle of winless Prep Division teams.
