WHITE ROUTS RED TO EARN SPLIT OF 3-ON-3S

CALGARY, Alta. – There would be no sweep of the 3-on-3 games for Team Red at the National Women’s Under-18 Team selection camp on Wednesday … the Team White offence took care of that.

Despite being outshot for much of the game, White got two goals each from Jamie Lee Rattray (Kanata, Ont.), Jenna McParland (Schreiber, Ont.) and Christine Lambert (Thetford Mines, Que.) to rout Red 8-1. Red earned a 6-4 win in the first 3-on-3 game earlier Wednesday.

After Carly Mercer (Exeter, Ont.) cut the White lead in half at 2-1 early in the second period, the pale-coloured side scored six unanswered goals to pull away and earn their first win since a 5-on-5 victory in the camp’s first game on Saturday night.

Shelby Nisbet (Wiseton, Sask.) and Brigette Lacquette (Waterhen, Man.) also found the scoresheet for White, which didn’t take its first lead on the shot clock until the dying minutes. It ended up with a 32-21 advantage.

Carmen MacDonald (Pictou, N.S.) and Kristy Garrow (London, Ont.) were stellar between the pipes for White, turning aside 30 of the 31 shots they faced.
