(May 7) KARLSTAD, Sweden (CP) - Star sniper Peter Bondra of the Washington Capitals scored twice, including the winner, as Slovakia came for behind to oust Canada from the world hockey championships with a 3-2 quarter-final win Tuesday.

Dany Heatley of the Atlanta Thrashers and Ryan Smyth of the Edmonton Oilers had given Canada a 2-0 lead but the Slovaks charged back behind Bondra's heroics.

Bondra gave Slovakia life when his wrist shot with just one second left in the second period beat a screened J.S. Giguere and cut Canada's lead to 2-1.

The goal stunned Canada and it carried over into third period when captain Miroslav Satan of the Buffalo Sabres tied it on the power play just 3:47 in. Bondra then hammered a slapshot from the high slot over Giguere's glove 50 seconds later to give Slovakia a 3-2 lead.
