Gord Miller

My Team Canada - Gord Miller : 03/19/2009

Gord Miller has covered hockey extensively as a host, reporter and commentator since joining TSN in 1990. Miller first called hockey games for TSN in 1993 at the IIHF World Championship, which was quickly followed by play-by-play action for TSN's coverage of the NHL, IIHF World Junior Championship, World Cup of Hockey, IIHF World Women’s Championships and various Memorial Cups. In addition to hockey, Miller previously covered other high profile sports events for TSN including the Olympic Games, World Cup, World Series, British Open and World Figure Skating Championships. Miller also worked as TSN's CFL play-by-play announcer for six years.

Goaltenders
  • Martin Brodeur
  • Roberto Luongo
  • Steve Mason

Goaltenders: It's Roberto Luongo's time to shine in his home NHL arena. Marty Brodeur can step in at a moment's notice, while Steve Mason can learn from two of the best for the future.

Defense: Canada will be looking to play a Detroit-style puck posession game in Vancouver, and all seven of these defencemen can make plays, which will be essential.

Forwards: The problem Canada faces is that there are so many centres from which to choose, which is why I'm moving Sidney Crosby and Jeff Carter to the wing. The Lecavalier line (Crosby-Lecavalier-Iginla) has all the elements a first line needs, Getzlaf's unit (Heatley-Getzlaf-Nash) has great chemistry from past international competitions, Thornton's line (Doan-Thornton-Gagne) brings Olympic experience, and the "fourth line" (Morrow-Richards-Carter) has the versatility necessary to play any kind of game required. Thirteenth forward Patrick Sharp can play any forward position, kill penalties or play on the power play.
