Cologne, Germany - Team Canada played the home town Germans to a 2-2 draw in an exhibition game as a lead up to Friday’s start of the Deutschland Cup being played in Hanover. Over 16, 000 fans took in the game and were thrilled when their home team tied the score with 14:05 remaining in the third period.

Hnat Domenichelli who scored the winner for Team Canada in Zurich last night, left off where he started. He scored the only goal in the first period and scored his second goal early in the third to put Canada up 2-1. The Germans replied 4 minutes later and the scored remained tied. The game did not go into overtime.

Prior to the game, Head Coach, Dave King named former NHLer Denis Pederson captain with Craig Ferguson and Andy Schneider selected as assistants.

Team Canada will face the Swiss in their opening game of the Deutschland Cup on Friday evening. Team Canada enters the event as defending champions and will rely on Canadian players currently toiling in 4 different professional leagues (Germany, Switzerland, Finland and the AHL) to defend the title. The lone player from North America, David Oliver, Utah Grizzlies, arrived today following a 48 flight delay and did not dress for Canada.
