2003-04 National Men's Team

Canada 1 - Switzerland 1

December 19, 2003
Pardubice, Czech Republic

Canada held the lead for 56:34 before the Swiss were able to beat Andrew Verner and tie the game. The two teams went into a shootout with Stacey Roest and Lonny Bohonos scoring for Canada which was thought to give Canada a 2-1 victory. After further review the game was determined a 1-1 tie with each team receiving 1 point. The shootout did not determine the winner of the game and is only used as a tie breaker should 2 or more teams finished tied in the standings.

Sean Selsmer form the Austrian League scored Canada’s lone goal and for the second straight game one of Canada’s goalies was named game star. Mike Smith stopped all but one VS Austria yesterday with Andrew Verner allowing the lone goal tonight.

Canada will play Slovakia, who is heavily favored VS the Austrians tonight. A win will give Slovakia 4 points. Canada will enter the game tomorrow with 3 points and the final game of the tournament will determine the 2003 Lotto Cup Champions. Canada must win tomorrow with the Slovaks requiring only a tie to win the tournament.
