KADRI’S TWO POINTS LEAD RED TO WIN IN INTERSQUAD OPENER

Nazem Kadri (London, ON/London, OHL) scored a goal and added an assist to lead Team Red to a 4-1 victory over Team White during the first of three intersquad games at the National Junior Team development camp at the University of Ottawa Sports Complex in the nation's capital.

Kadri scored the game-winning goal at 16:08 of the second period on a penalty shot, going backhand to forehand to beat Team White netminder Tyson Sexsmith (Priddis, AB/Vancouver, WHL). Sexsmith came into the game midway through the second, replacing starter Chet Pickard (Winnipeg, MB/Tri-City, WHL).

Team Red’s other goals were scored by Luke Schenn (Saskatoon, SK/Kelowna, WHL), Chris DiDomenico (Woodbridge, ON/Saint John, QMJHL) and Jamie Benn (Victoria, BC/Kelowna, WHL).

White’s lone goal was scored by John Tavares (Oakville, ON/Oshawa, OHL), who scored on a penalty shot just 28 seconds into the game.

No penalties were served during the game - all penalties resulted in penalty shots.

Team Red’s goaltenders were Dustin Tokarski (Watson, SK/Spokane, WHL) and Jake Allen (New Maryland, NB/St. John’s, QMJHL).

Team Red and Team White meet again on Monday night, at 6 p.m. ET, in Ottawa. The camp runs through Tuesday night.
