Team Alberta ready to play!

20 of the top Under 18 players in the province have been selected to represent Alberta at the Under 18 Women’s Hockey Challenge.  The intensive selection process began with 160 players born in 1987/88 invited to the North and South camps.  From these camps 46 players were asked back to the provincial camp in July, at which the final selections were made.  The 20 players selected participated in fitness testing and team training in November and an exhibition series against Team Saskatchewan in December.

The coaching staff has been working with the athletes throughout the year to insure the athletes are physically and mentally prepared.  A balance of skill, size and focus on the team work will make Alberta very competitive.  “We’ll get on the bus, do some team building and strategize on how to inflict some damage,” said Coach Medori, who is prepared to motivate his team for a tough five day schedule that has no room for error.  “I don’t think it’s going to be hard to motivate the team at all,” Medori said.  “They have a lot of character.  They have a lot of passion.  I know they are going into BC with a common goal of being the best.”
